Permanent Location

Stillwater Children's Museum marked a major milestone in its progress toward the creation of an interactive children's museum when it closed the deal August 16 on its first permanent location, thanks in large part to a partnership with the City of Stillwater and Stillwater Convention and Visitor's Bureau (CVB).

The Museums' new home, formerly the Katz Building in downtown Stillwater, offers 20,000 square feet of space, which will be renovated to house the Museum's interactive exhibits, creating a state-of-the-art educational environment for children in Stillwater and throughout central Oklahoma.

The new museum, which is slated to complete renovations and open its doors to the public by spring of 2010, will feature a variety of hands-on, interactive exhibits. The Museum will be centered around a multi-story, interactive Discovery Tree, with other planned exhibits to include Little Pokes Farm Yard, Generation Station, The Cimarron, Stillwater Depot, A Wing for the Dreams, Constellation Hall, and Technovations Laboratory.

A capital campaign has already begun to finance the renovation of the building and construction of the Museum's permanent exhibits. Although the Museum is not scheduled to open its doors until 2010, this date may be expedited pending successful fundraising. The Museum is currently seeking private donations of funds and materials, grants, corporate sponsorships, and professional services.
