Committees

Audit:
Chair - Kelly Cox, CPA; Members - Jon Hunt, Ed Onley, CPA
The committee's role is to act on behalf of the Board of Directors and
oversee all material aspects of the organization's financial reporting,
control, and audit functions. The audit committee's role includes a particular
focus on the qualitative aspects of financial reporting, organization
processes for the management of risk, and compliance with significant,
applicable tax, legal, ethical, and regulatory requirements.
Board
Development:
Chair - DeAnna Little; Members - Marcia Karns, Kenny Quigley, Jeff
Stewart, Laurie Taylor
The board development committee will identify and recommend prospective
board members. The committee will be responsible for recruitment, board
orientation, and evaluation of the members. The chair of the committee
will work with the Executive Director for orientation processes for the
new board members. The committee will also recommend advisory council
members and assist with keeping them updated on SCM goals and activities.
Capital
Campaign:
Co-Chairs - Marcia Karns and Lorrie Janzen; Members - Betty Kerns,
Russ Teubner, Rex Horning, Ruth Cavins, Gerald Bradshaw, Joe Weaver, Ed
Gallegos, Lynda Halley, Kathy Thomas
The capital campaign committee is responsible for an intense effort on
the part of SCM to raise funds necessary to open a children's museum.
The money raised will be used to fund the Stillwater Children's Museum
capital expenditures for the museum's permanent location. The committee
will facilitate the position of the organization for future growth, especially
in the area of community recognition and fundraising.
Exhibits:
Chair - Bethany Houser; Members - Dena Cornforth, Kim Norman, Arica
Lingerfelt, Tyler Martin, Amy Tidland
The committee is responsible for developing the exhibits, creating the
Exhibit Master Plan, and partnering with a design company to bring the
exhibits to production and installation.
Facilities:
Members - Shelley Anella, Luke Anthony, Kay Heath, Russ Teubner, Ron
Walker, Howard Aufleger, Dan Speer
The committee's responsibility is to provide and maintain a facility conducive
to achieving the Museum's mission statement.
Finance:
Chair
- Dena Cornforth, CPA; Members - Kristi Howey, CPA; Jason Pogue; Stacy
Leming, CPA; Cassie Griffin, CPA
The Finance Committee coordinates the board's financial oversight responsibilities
by monitoring and evaluating the financial records and statements, reviewing
budgets, approving expenditures not consistent with nor contained in the
budget, assisting with policy development, advising the staff and board
on financial priorities and any other duties as may from time to time
be required by the board.
Fundraising:
Chair
- Kandi Speer; Members - Kelli Payne, Lynda Halley, Carmen Miller, Ruth
Cavins, Deb Ausman, Rachel Elliott
This committee is responsible for seeking out grants, writing proposals
and developing and coordinating fundraising events and activities. The
committee will also develop and implement the membership campaign and
develop a system to ensure proper grant administration.
Museum
Without Walls:
Co-Chairs - Faye Ann Presnal and Laura Wilhelm; Members - Ruth Cavins,
Pat Tweedie, Jennifer Szabo, Annette Downs, Linda Sholar, Candace Thrasher,
Suzanne Buckner, Kathleen Woods, Marcia Hargrove, Marama Bayles
The committee selects and develops outreach exhibits and activities that
support the museum's missions and goals. It also identifies potential
audiences, seeking input related to interests and needs for programming.
The committee participates in recruitment of appropriate individuals to
serve on subcommittees for specific projects. It also monitors current
programming to evaluate effectiveness and assure appropriateness and quality.
Public Relations & Marketing: Chair - Hollie Schreiber;
Members - Jennifer Armstrong, Nita Buckner, Ruth Cavins, Kelly Green,
Crystal Guthrie, Mark Jones, DeAnna Little, Kelli Payne, Emily Phillips,
Jason Pogue, Cindy Schaefer, Chasen Shaw, Cory Cart, Lynda Halley
The public relations and marketing committee exists to inform the customer
public and the donor public of all relevant activities and to promote
and ensure a consistent, positive image for the Stillwater Children's
Museum.
