UPCOMING MUSEUM WITHOUT WALLS EVENTS:

Our Mission Statement says it all: The Stillwater Children's Museum inspires curiosity to learn through play using dynamic, hands-on exhibits and programs.

Imagine the benefits of a hands-on Children’s Museum in our community…

Imagine a larger than life multi-story Discovery Tree featuring plant, animal, and insect habitats native to Oklahoma, an incredible interactive tree house, rope bridges, ladders, and a giant corkscrew slide. Above the Discovery Tree, explore the wonders of space amidst fiber-optic stars, and take a trip around the sun to learn about seasons and light. Imagine “plunging” into The Cimarron to discover the power and presence of water in America’s Frontier Lake State, exploring the water cycle, or panning for semi-precious stones.

Imagine age appropriate exhibits, from the Little Pokes Farm Yard to the Technovations Laboratory, providing an educational and entertaining environment for children and adults of all ages. A Wing For The Dreams will give visitors the opportunity to learn about famous Oklahomans who have pursued and achieved their dreams, while developing new dreams of their own. A common ground for intergenerational sharing and exploration of talents and ideas will flourish in the Generation Station. Just imagine the Stillwater Depot, with its interconnection of tunnels and plexiglass bubbles, giving visitors the opportunity to view themed landscape layouts and model trains from varying and unique vantage points.

Imagine the economic impact of an estimated 100,000 visitors per year!
A recent report in “USA TODAY”, (Sloan, Gene, Kids’ Museums Grow by Leaps, Bounds, USA TODAY, February 17, 2005) reports, “Many cities now see children’s museums as a magnet for tourism…” This trend is evidenced by the Association of Children’s Museums’ 2005 Member Survey that revealed 60 children’s museums are currently flagships in downtown revitalization projects. Now-- imagine the Stillwater Children's Museum and the incredible opportunities it would offer our community and the surrounding region.
